Amber Southard Talks About Periscope And Law Enforcement

From KABC3 Alabama - The Gulf Shores Police Department has found a way to use Twitter's Periscope App to help directly communicate with the people.

About two weeks ago Corporal Josh Coleman with the Gulf Shores Police Department says he stumbled across the app. After further research, Corporal Coleman wrote an article on how the app can help bridge the gap between law enforcement and the community. It was published on a website called Law Enforcement Social and the Caliber Press.


He says his department uses the app to take their followers on virtual ride alongs, to show programs like Coffee With a Cop, and the Citizens Police Academy. "One of the big goals in community policing is to let people get to know us as people," said Corporal Josh Coleman.
